Frequently asked questions

Do Texas barbers and cosmetologists need liability insurance?

Texas does not generally require individual liability insurance as a condition of a TDLR practitioner license. Many salon owners, suite landlords, and booth rental agreements still require proof of insurance before you can work. A policy in your own name also protects you if a client alleges injury or a service mistake.

How much does it cost?

Option 1 (solo) is $193 a year for $1M / $2M general and professional liability. Option 2 (home-based) starts from $233 a year. Add-ons for equipment and data security change the total; you see the exact price at CoverSmart checkout.

Does it cover me if I rent a booth in Texas?

If you rent a chair by the hour inside a licensed establishment and have no employees, Option 1 usually fits. If you lease a room or suite by the week or month, or operate a mini-establishment, use the custom quote form instead.
